In
April 1992, Tawfiq and Salha Al-habashi founded Al-habashi Mart
at the historic City Market in Kansas City, MO. The store specialized
in Middle Eastern food items.
The
store catered to the local Middle Eastern community and consumers interested
in Middle Eastern cuisine. Word spread of the store’s variety
and quality leading to an expansion in both space and items offered.
Al-habashi
Mart is truly an international grocery store. The food offerings include
items from the Mediterranean, the Middle East, India and other parts
of the world.
Located
next to Habashi House restaurant, Al-habashi Mart offers the culinary
adventurous a huge variety of food products, many that only exist in
the best Old World markets of Jerusalem, Damascus and Athens.
